It’s been less than a month since the transfer window shut but Real Madrid fans already looking ahead at possible departures and arrivals in 2022 for what could be one of the busiest transfer windows in a long time.
Speaking of arrivals, a certain Norwegian striker comes to mind with reports circulating around hinting at the arrival of Erling Haaland to the Bernabeu. Whether he’ll arrive or not is still merely a topic for speculation. If he does arrive, however, certain players will have to depart to make room for the young sensation. I look into 3 such forwards who could be sold to buy Erling Haaland.
The most obvious one, number one on the list is none other than the former Castilla player Mariano. Although a solid player and someone who may have seemed useful at the time of his signing, I think it’s safe to say that Mariano has overstayed his welcome at Real. He has only managed to rack up 1714 mins in 5 seasons for Real Madrid over two stints, which is almost half of what he managed at Lyon in 2 seasons.
Although Mariano’s departure would almost most certainly not yield any fee, it’ll help lower the wage bill. It’s time for him to move on and put use to his talents elsewhere.
