By Matt Konrad

As 2022 comes to an end, scholarship season is getting busier—and the holiday break is a perfect time to make some headway on your searches and applications. We have lots of open programs on our Browse Scholarships page, and we’re proud to feature these three partner scholarships from AllianceBernstein, ScottMadden and the GE-Reagan Foundation. Scholarships up to $40,000, paid internships and more are out there waiting for you!

AB HBCU Scholars

AllianceBernstein (AB) is a global asset-management firm that is committed to investing in the next generation of young professionals. In their own words:

“We want to empower you—that’s why we offer training, development and a culture of mentorship and mobility. The goal is to help you cultivate the tools you need to build your career. If you’re passionate, driven and ready to develop new ideas, we want to help you challenge your limits. We’re looking for talented, highly motivated undergraduate students from populations that are underrepresented in finance. If you’re an academic achiever, intellectually curious and interested in financial services, AB could be the place for you.”

One of the key areas of AB’s investment in students is their Sophomore HBCU Scholars program, now open for applications. The program provides $5,000 awards, summer internships and mentoring opportunities to second-year students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Applicants must be current sophomores graduating in 2025 with a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) who self-identify as Black or African American, Hispanic or Latinx, American Indian or Alaska Native, and must be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in an eligible major for the entire next academic year. Eligible students from all HBCUs are invited to apply.

Recipients of the AB HBCU Scholarship must complete a 9-week paid internship with AllianceBernstein during the summer of 2023; the internship includes firmwide onboarding, engagement with leaders across the business and the opportunity to receive a full-time offer. Awards are renewable up to one additional year if recipients meet renewal requirements.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program offers $10,000 scholarships to outstanding high school seniors—and awards are renewable up to three subsequent years, for a potential total of up to $40,000 each.

A tribute to the character and values of our nation’s 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship has awarded $8.2 million to students attending more than 100 college campuses across the country—a diverse network of more than 200 student leaders attending college, pursuing graduate degrees, and working in careers ranging from medicine, law, education, business, nonprofit and more.

The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program is open to current high school seniors who have at least a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent) and who exemplify the qualities of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Like President Reagan, candidates use the formative experiences of their youth to lead, serve, and pursue a life of purpose and significance, both individually and for their communities.

Awards are for full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, and on-campus room and board. In addition, Scholars are invited to participate in an exclusive, all-expenses-paid Scholars Retreat in California, and receive support throughout their leadership journeys in college and beyond. Follow the program on Facebook for updates.

“At ScottMadden, growing a diverse culture where everyone is welcomed, valued, and respected has long been a strategic priority. This program further amplifies our commitment to D&I as a firm and within our communities,” says Kim Davenport, partner, and director of diversity and inclusion.

To apply, you must be a current resident of one of the three eligible metro areas, and a college sophomore or above.
