Odegaard was left frustrated in the clash with Watford.

Odegaard on Aubameyang ‘frustration’

Martin Odegaard has said he was “frustrated” with team-mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when the Gabon international turned in an apparent goalbound effort of his.

Aubameyang slid in to ensure Odegaard’s effort ended up over the line against Watford, although upon touching the ball the striker became offside. It left Odegaard visibly anguished, as he continues to search for his best form since joining the Gunners on a permanent basis in the summer.

“I knew as soon as he touched it that he was offside. It was frustrating, but we won,” said the Norwegian playmaker. “If they had equalised, it would have been tougher!”

‘No chance’ of Martinelli move to Brazil

The father of Gabriel Martinelli has said there is “no chance” of the forward moving back to Brazil.

Martinelli has struggled for game time this season, with the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka moving ahead of him in the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.

The youngster’s shift to the fringes of the first team has prompted some speculation over a possible transfer, with Corinthians said to be admirers of the 20-year-old. However, it would appear any such move is unlikely.

“There is no chance of him going to Corinthians or any other Brazilian club,” said Joao Martinelli. “Since he came back from an injury, he’s been playing a lot less than he would have liked.”

Ozil slammed for Fenerbahce form

The Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has hit out at the form of ex-Arsenal star Mesut Ozil in recent weeks.

The German playmaker joined the Turkish giants in January. However, after a string of injuries and some indifferent form, Ozil has found himself on the bench again recently under manager Vitor Pereira.

And Koc has issued a stern warning to the 33-year-old and his manager.

“Ozil wants to play more,” he said. “From now on, he needs to focus on his game and keep his commercial interests out of it. He needs to think about contributing to Fenerbahce.

“Our coach also needs to try to figure out how to get the most out of Ozil. There is not a problem, despite what the media says. Mesut is unhappy because he does not play regularly.”
