Highly rated midfielder extends contract with the club

Real Madrid are slowly getting their midfield sorted for the future. They have Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric for now, and then once the dynamic duo’s time is up, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga are looked as replacements for the long run. Certainly not like-for-like replacements as the playing styles don’t match, but they’re the future of this team’s midfield. Casemiro should accompany them for the foreseeable future, but he’s not exactly young, either.

That’s why they have been reportedly looking at possible understudies to Casemiro, namely Aurelien Tchouameni. But, as I explained in that article, he’s definitely not the only one suited for that role.

Antonio Blanco is a very talented midfielder that is currently registered as a Castilla player. He has featured for the club on many occasions this year because of injuries to the first team players. He made his mark as a DM last season and has been kept around in case of emergency.

Blanco signs an extension with Real Madrid until the summer of 2025

According to MadridistaReal, Real Madrid have successfully extended Blanco’s contract, as well as Marvin Park’s.

Marvin Park is a good footballer, but I don’t really see him as a Madrid-calibre player yet. Maybe he’s like another Lucas Vazquez, but I don’t know if he is good enough to become a first-team regular.

As for Blanco, I think this is a great move, because even though Blanco isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Casemiro, but he’s still a very intelligent footballer. He covers a lot of ground and is a great reader of the game.

He’s a deep-lying playmaker which is in contrast with the starter they have at this position, but it gives Real Madrid multiple choices to explore in midfield. They can do well with such players in the squad, and I think that is what they had in mind while offering Blanco a contract extension.

Blanco is a leader on the pitch, and has been good whenever he has featured for the first team. I’ve also been tracking his development whenever he plays for Castilla, and he has been vital for the team, even though they are not off to the best of starts.

Blanco has the potential to become a regular for the first team when he finally blossoms into the player we know he can be. Until then, I think it’s safe to say that he’ll be around for a while and that he accepts a role similar to the one he has right now.
