Pastor Daniel Obasi, the pastor of Divine Light Prophetic Mission in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has died when his two-story building collapsed while he was inside.
The sad occurrence occurred on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, just one day after the construction workers celebrated Eid-el-Kabir.
The 55-year-old father of five was reportedly trapped as the building collapsed on him.
Emergency responders then retrieved his body from the rubble and handed it over to Isawo Division Police.

Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos State Acting Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the incident saying the landlord was the only who perished in the collapse.
According to him, “The cause of the collapse was suspected to be inadequate timeline to allow sand-filled land to compact properly before the commencement of construction and poor building materials, according to neighbours.”
Here are some reaction from Nigerians;
RIP , Imagine if they had finished the building with these substandard materials and there was a congregation inside
The foundation of the building is probably weak. Most Lagos builders and greediness. 😢 RIP
May his soul Rest In Peace…….please those building try and use adequate material, take your time and hire experience surveyors.
Always poor or substantial building materials.. the engineers should be held and be accounted for. Rubbish!
Instead of u to build a storey building that will make u manage materials y dnt u build a flat dat will get adequate material haba dis is so sad ooooo
Chia see him reinforced steel now , skinny af imagine if a whole congregation sang and jumped on this structure after completion
