Man Utd payback planned

Arsenal may finally be about to get one over rivals Manchester United which would go a long way towards getting payback for the Old Trafford outfit poaching Robin van Persie.

That is because the Gunners have been linked with a sensational swoop for wonderkid Mason Greenwood in next month’s January transfer window.

Spanish publication El Nacional reports Greenwood is becoming disillusioned with life at Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at the club last year

Next captain ‘confirmed’

Alexandre Lacazette wore the armband during the Gunners’ 2-0 win over West Ham after previous captain Aubameyang was absent following his disciplinary breach.

The Frenchman received praise from his boss for the way he led the side during the Premier League encounter and how he has been helping the club’s young players.

And speaking after the game, Arteta discussed who is “next in line” to lead the club by wearing the captain’s armband.

Aubameyang’s future still up in air

Gunners boss Arteta has also refused to confirm whether Aubameyang will be back for Saturday’s trip to face Leeds in the Premier League.

Aubameyang was made to sit out the 2-0 win over West Ham as punishment for his disciplinary breach, a move which has raised questions about his long-term future in north London.

Speculation is now rife that the forward has played his last game for the club ahead of next month’s January transfer window, and when asked for an update on Aubameyang’s situation following the West Ham win, Arteta was very blunt about his former captain.
