President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his shock at the recent crash of a Nigerian Air Force plane (NAF).
On Sunday, July 18, 2021, terrorists shot down an Alpha Jet aircraft returning from a bombing mission between the states of Zamfara and Kaduna.
Flight Lieutenant Abayomi Dairo, the plane’s pilot, ejected before the disaster and was rescued from a community where he had sought shelter.

In a statement posted on Tuesday, July 20, Buhari praised his bravery.
“I was shocked by the devastating news of the air crash but felt much relieved, following the successful ejection by the pilot and his eventual rescue.
“May the injured pilot recover at the earliest time,” he said.
The president expressed his sorrow at the disaster, which was the fourth military plane loss since February.
A fighter jet crashed in Abuja on February 21, 2021, after reporting engine failure, killing seven people, while another plane went missing on March 31, with two people on board, and is believed to have crashed.
Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff, and eleven other military personnel died in an accident near Kaduna in May.
