It was one of the most eye-catching deals of the summer but Sergio Ramos is in danger of becoming the forgotten man at Paris Saint-Germain since his summer switch from Real Madrid.

Ramos is one of the most decorated players in the game and ended his 16-year long association with Madrid this summer but is yet to make his debut for PSG.

The talismanic central defender has now suffered a fresh injury setback and is said to be struggling emotionally with his multitude of injuries.

There are said to be serious doubts that he will be back in action anytime soon with a continuation of the muscular injuries that hampered his final few months in the Spanish capital.

Ramos has played just five clubs matches this calendar year and just once domestically since January with each return bringing a fresh setback.

Sergio Ramos has not played back-to-back matches since March

It had been assumed that the Spaniard would be able to make his PSG debut in Friday night’s Ligue 1 clash against champions Lille, but he has been ruled out of that game too.

Indeed, he also looks set to miss the upcoming Champions League trip to RB Leipzig and is increasingly unlikely to feature for the club ahead of next month’s international break.

Ramos injured his knee in the aftermath of signing for the French club this summer and the following month suffered an injury to his soleus muscle, which has been recurring for the past two months.

He has not been training with his teammates in ball exercises this week in another injury setback, with the details outlined by Diario AS.

There is said to be no medical certainty over Ramos returning to action anytime soon amid fears that it could be months, rather than weeks, when he returns to the pitch.

Ramos won an astonishing 22 trophies during his time at Los Blancos including five La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies, scoring a remarkable 101 goals in that timeframe, but his final year at the club was less than ideal.

Amid his multiple muscular injury setbacks, his contract negotiation talks with the club came to a standstill as he did not want a drop in salary or solely a one-year deal, and by the time that he relented in his demands, the club had withdrawn their offer.

Ramos has yet to play back-to-back matches since a brief international outing against Kosovo in March and was excluded from Luis Enrique’s Spain squad for the European Championships and has not featured for La Roja since.

Ramos penned a two-year contract at PSG after leaving Madrid and missing out on the European Championships but has yet to play a game for his new club.

Now aged 35, there will inevitably be doubts about his future in the game and the defender – who has accomplished more than almost any other player – must now prove the critics wrong once again.
